Our short trekking experiences are crafted to fulfill the dreams of those eager to witness the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. We offer carefully planned treks ranging from 1-day to 3-day itineraries, suited for all ages and interests. Each trek provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the magnificent landscapes, diverse wildlife, and volcanic features of the area, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A Journey Within a Journey Turn a few hours or a couple of days into an extraordinary adventure. Make the most of your ‘free’ time with exciting short trips from Arusha, including a day trek to Mount Kilimanjaro. For those with long layovers of 6–8 hours, we offer direct transfers to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) after the trek.

Mount Kilimanjaro Shira Plateau Day Trek

Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or prefer a leisurely stroll, the Shira Plateau day trip is ideal for enjoying the mountain’s beauty up close. This 4–6 hour trek reaches altitudes of up to 3500m, suitable for most fitness levels. The well-maintained trails and changing weather offer a genuine Kilimanjaro experience.

  • Transfer: Private transport from Arusha City to West Kilimanjaro (drop-off at JRO can be arranged)

After brunch at Shira I Camp, we return to Morum Hill for pick-up and transport back to Arusha.

2 Days - Mount Kilimanjaro Shira Plateau Trek

Day 1: Morum Hill to Shira I Camp

We begin with brunch at Morum Hill (3400m / 11,155 ft) before setting out on our trek across the Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak. Overnight at Shira I Camp, where you’ll enjoy a three-course dinner, stargazing, and a sunrise breakfast with breathtaking views.

  • Trail grade: Moderate – mostly flat terrain
  • Distance: 7.6 km / 4.7 miles round trip
  • Trek hours: 3–4 hours to Shira I Camp; 2–3 hours on the return

Day 2: Shira I Camp to Cathedral Peak and Return

We start early from Shira I Camp, aiming to reach Cathedral Peak (3872m / 12,703 ft) for spectacular views of Kibo and the Shira Needle. After brunch at the Cathedral base, we return to Shira I Camp for a short rest before heading back to Morum Hill.

  • Trail grade: Moderate/Difficult, with a steep climb to Cathedral Peak
  • Highlights: Kibo Peak, Machame “Whiskey” Route, wildlife tracks, and Shira Cathedral
  • Trek hours: 9 hours, including a lunch break
  • Distance: 12 km / 7.4 miles

3 Days - Mount Kilimanjaro Trek via the Lemosho Route

Day 1: Lemosho Glades to Big Tree Camp

After formalities at Londorossi Gate, we drive to the Lemosho Glades (2380m / 7838 ft) and begin our trek through the rainforest, encountering wildlife such as colobus and blue monkeys, bushbabies, and hyraxes. We camp overnight at Big Tree Camp (2785m / 9137 ft).

  • Trail grade: Moderate/Difficult, some 45° inclines
  • Trek hours: 4–5 hours
  • Distance: 8 km / 4.97 miles
  • Highlights: Tropical forest, wildlife sightings, unique flora

Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira I Camp

Today’s trek ascends through the moorlands and heather zone, reaching Shira Ridge (3538m / 11,801 ft) before descending to Shira I Camp. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the snow-capped Kibo.

  • Trail grade: Strenuous, with steep uphill sections
  • Trek hours: 9 hours, including a lunch break
  • Distance: 8 km / 4.9 miles
  • Highlights: Mount Meru, Kibo, and Shira Plateau landscapes

Day 3: Shira I Camp to Cathedral Peak and Return

The final day involves a trek to Cathedral Peak (3862m / 12,671 ft) before returning to Shira I Camp and eventually to Morum Hill for pick-up.

  • Trail grade: Moderate/Difficult, steep climb to Cathedral Peak
  • Trek hours: 9 hours, including lunch
  • Distance: 12 km / 7.4 miles
  • Highlights: Shira Cathedral, wildlife tracks, Kibo’s southern flank
