Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or prefer a leisurely stroll, the Shira Plateau day trip is ideal for enjoying the mountain’s beauty up close. This 4–6 hour trek reaches altitudes of up to 3500m, suitable for most fitness levels. The well-maintained trails and changing weather offer a genuine Kilimanjaro experience.

After brunch at Shira I Camp, we return to Morum Hill for pick-up and transport back to Arusha.
We begin with brunch at Morum Hill (3400m / 11,155 ft) before setting out on our trek across the Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak. Overnight at Shira I Camp, where you’ll enjoy a three-course dinner, stargazing, and a sunrise breakfast with breathtaking views.
We start early from Shira I Camp, aiming to reach Cathedral Peak (3872m / 12,703 ft) for spectacular views of Kibo and the Shira Needle. After brunch at the Cathedral base, we return to Shira I Camp for a short rest before heading back to Morum Hill.
After formalities at Londorossi Gate, we drive to the Lemosho Glades (2380m / 7838 ft) and begin our trek through the rainforest, encountering wildlife such as colobus and blue monkeys, bushbabies, and hyraxes. We camp overnight at Big Tree Camp (2785m / 9137 ft).
Today’s trek ascends through the moorlands and heather zone, reaching Shira Ridge (3538m / 11,801 ft) before descending to Shira I Camp. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the snow-capped Kibo.
The final day involves a trek to Cathedral Peak (3862m / 12,671 ft) before returning to Shira I Camp and eventually to Morum Hill for pick-up.
