9 Days Lemosho Route

Overview

This is an ideal trek for adventurous travelers looking to experience the stunning beauty of the mountains while traversing unspoiled terrain. The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the best “circuit” treks, as it circumnavigates the highest free-standing peak in Africa. It’s an excellent choice for those new to high-altitude trekking, as the slower pace to the summit allows more time for acclimatization. A unique aspect of this route is the opportunity to sleep at Kosovo Camp (4864m / 15,958 ft) before attempting the summit, allowing for a shorter ascent to the peak on summit day without starting in the middle of the night.

This itinerary covers a substantial portion of Kilimanjaro, starting in the lush rainforest on the mountain’s western side, crossing the Shira Plateau on the southern side, and approaching the summit from the east. Along the way, you will camp at the picturesque Shira 2 Camp and tackle the renowned Barranco Wall, eventually reaching the highest point in Africa—Uhuru Peak.
